It is currently assumed that low cell stiffness promotes cell migration through confined spaces. In my talk I will present data showing that a host of other factors such as adhesion and traction forces may be at least equally important. I will also present new assays that we recently developed to quantify cell migration and traction forces in 3D matrices.<\/p>\n
<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1042 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/from-snot-to-tissue-org.gerdschroeder-turk.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/2016_08_18_BenFabryFullSize.png?resize=300%2C300&ssl=1\" alt=\"2016_08_18_BenFabryFullSize\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/from-snot-to-tissue-org.gerdschroeder-turk.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/2016_08_18_BenFabryFullSize.png?resize=300%2C300&ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/from-snot-to-tissue-org.gerdschroeder-turk.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/2016_08_18_BenFabryFullSize.png?resize=150%2C150&ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/from-snot-to-tissue-org.gerdschroeder-turk.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/2016_08_18_BenFabryFullSize.png?w=711&ssl=1 711w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>
This image, taken by Julian Steinwachs, shows a breast carcinoma cell migrating through a collagen gel.
